The sterlet is considered the smallest in the sturgeon family: the average fish length is 60 cm, the maximum is 110-120 cm, usually weighs 1-2 kg, but individuals weighing 7-8 kg and even 15 kg are found. It is distinguished from other sturgeons by a longer nose and closed dorsal scutes. The color of the fish is from brown on the back to white on the abdomen, but it can vary from habitat.
