BAJAKAH Kalawit from Borneo island.

The tampala bajakah plant (spatholobus littoralis hask) is a vine found in the forests of Borneo. Many then wonder, what is the Bajakah plant and what does it contain so that it is called a cancer cure? Researchers from Lambung Mangkurat University Eko Suhartanto said that Bajakah plants contain phytochemical compounds that act as anti-cancer agents. There are tannins, there are flavonoids and other healthy phytochemical compounds such as steroids and the like, phytochemical compounds which are also called phytonutrients are a component that is responsible for giving the color, taste and aroma of a type of food. Phytonutrients are only found in foods of plant origin, especially vegetables, fruit, nuts, and tea. Phytonutrients are not actually essential nutrients needed by the body. However, phytonutrients can help reduce the risk of disease and help the body work optimally.

Bajakah plants are claimed to contain 40 kinds of phytochemicals that can cure cancer, including flavonoids, phenolics, steroids, saponins, terpenoids, and alkonoid. In fact, the Bajakah plant as a cancer cure has long been used by the ancestors of the Dayak tribe from generation to generation. However, there has never been any scientific research that has proven its usefulness. Until 2018, three students of SMA 2 Palangkaraya conducted research on Bajakah plants for extracurricular assignments. In May 2019, Bajakah plants were tested in the laboratory of Lambung Mangkurat University, Banjarmasin. From the results of official laboratory tests, it is proven that the Bajakah plant contains a lot of cancer-healing substances. On May 12, 2019, a scientific paper on the Bajakah plant was contested at the Indonesian Education University, Bandung, and won a gold medal and came out as a national champion. Scientific work on the Bajakah plant won gold again at the World Invention Creativity Olympic event in South Korea on July 28, 2019.

Prior to this research, local residents had already recognized the Bajakah plant as a medicinal plant.

These are research based benefits:

• Increase body immunity

• Source of antioxidants

• Against tumor and cancer cells

• Heals wounds

• Smooths the skin and prevents premature aging

5 Benefits of Bajakah Wood for Health:

Increase Immunity

Steel wood contains many nutrients that are useful for maintaining and increasing body immunity. It is very good to consume it to balance a healthy lifestyle to avoid autoimmune diseases. Autoimmune disease is known to be very dangerous that can attack to paralyze organs.

Source of Antioxidants

Based on research, it was found that Bajakah wood has an abundance of antioxidants. The antioxidants contained in this wood are very diverse. Among them are phenolics, tannins, steroids, saponin alkaloids, terpenoids, and alkaloids.

Against tumor and cancer cells

The content of antioxidant and phytochemical compounds in Bajakah wood is considered to be able to fight tumor and cancer cells. This is evident from the story of Daldin, one of the research students, who told the story of his mother who had breast cancer. Her mother's breast cancer was severe enough to drain pus. Until Daldin's father took the initiative to look for Bajakah wood to treat Daldin's mother's condition; indeed Bajakah wood has been known as a medicinal plant from generation to generation in his family. Slowly but surely, the breast cancer suffered by her mother gradually dried up after regularly consuming boiled boiled water. This is the basis for knowing the benefits of Bajakah wood, and taking the initiative to conduct research with his friends.

Healing Wounds

In Kalimantan culture, especially the Dayak tribe, the most felt benefit of Bajakah wood is its ability to stop bleeding and heal wounds. This is why Bajakah wood is known as a traditional medicine from generation to generation to the people of Borneo. Research confirms this. Bajakah wood is known to be rich in flavonoids, phenolic compounds, and tannins. The three compounds are angiogenesis which helps the formation of new blood vessels to accelerate wound healing.

Smooth skin and premature aging

Thanks to the high content of antioxidant and phytochemical compounds, the benefits of steel are also good for skin health. These compounds trigger the production of collagen in the body. Collagen levels in the body that are properly maintained can keep the skin smooth, and even prevent premature aging.
